Our Story

Owner and Pastry Chef Ayse Dizioglu discovered her love of baking while working in her home country, Turkey. She began making delicious "foreign" items like brownies and cheesecake, and her passion for baking grew. She came to New York to perfect her skills at the Culinary Institute of America and set her mind on opening her own bakery in New York City. Her dream was realized when Polka Dot Cake Studio opened in Manhattan in 2001. After serving the West Village for over four years, Ayse decided to close the storefront in order to dedicate more time to individual specialty cake orders (now by appointment only). When not baking cakes, Ayse enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children.
